Letter from the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer

Greetings,

Welcome back to campus for the fall 2024 semester! As we begin this exciting academic year at Michigan State University, I offer my warmest wishes for a year full of academic and personal growth and well-being. Whether you’re a returning member of our Spartan family or joining us for the first time, this semester is a chance for us to come together and continue building an inclusive, welcoming community for all.

This year, our diversity, equity and inclusion priorities will focus on advancing access, creating inclusive spaces and empowering all students, staff and faculty to share their experiences. This work relies on the collective efforts of everyone in our community, and I invite you to approach this semester with curiosity, compassion and a broad commitment to inclusive excellence.

This fall is especially significant as we enter the primary election season. During this time, opinions may differ, and discussions may be passionate. Leverage your voice by voting in elections—whether local, national or global—and engage with issues that matter deeply to you. Your actions will contribute to the collective shaping of the future.

I look forward to working with all of you. Thank you for being part of this incredible community and for your dedication to creating a brighter, more just future.

Best wishes for a successful and meaningful semester!

Go Green!
