IDI welcomes President Kevin M. Guskiewicz

Dear Members of the Michigan State University Community, 

On behalf of the Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, I warmly welcome President Kevin M. Guskiewicz as he joins our university community! President Guskiewicz brings with him a steadfast dedication to fostering inclusivity and a keen ear for understanding the needs of our diverse community.

With his wealth of experience and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, President Guskiewicz has demonstrated his leadership in advancing these essential values. His efforts at the University of North Carolina, including leading initiatives such as the special commission on race and the campuswide diversity climate survey, underscore his commitment to creating a more equitable and welcoming environment for all.

In addition, I thank former Interim President Teresa Woodruff, Ph.D., for her leadership over the past 16 months. She steered us through challenging and uncertain times gracefully and determined, always keeping our university's aspirations in sight. Serving alongside her during this transitional period was truly an honor and privilege.

As we embark on this journey together under President Guskiewicz's leadership, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to building an inclusive and supportive community where everyone can thrive. Together, we will continue to advance Michigan State University as a beacon of learning, knowledge and opportunity for all.
