Five Black Registered Student Organizations making an impact on campus 

Michigan State University is home to over 1,000 registered student organizations, or RSOs, where students can connect with one another and build community. February is Black History Month, where Black, African and African American history and achievements are highlighted across the United States. At MSU, Black student leaders are making an impact across campus and local communities. Learn about these MSU RSOs who are uplifting Black students. 

 

Black Students Alliance 

Michigan State’s Black Students Alliance, or BSA, was founded September 9th, 1967. The organization was founded at the time of protest organized by MSU students because of racism that was happening on MSU’s campus. MSU BSA is a part of the Council of Racial and Ethnic Students at MSU, and BSA is the voice of the Black community at MSU. MSU BSA advocates and offers resources across campus, standing for justice.

Black Undergraduate Law Association 

Black Undergraduate Law Association at Michigan State University, or B.U.L.A., empowers Black students interested in pursuing a degree in law. B.U.L.A. is committed to propelling the next generation of leaders, by offering resources such as networking events, LSAT preparation, mentoring and more. 

MSU B.U.L.A. has a fireside chat with Michigan Department of Attorney General Veneshia Cezil on February 1st, from 6 – 7 p.m. in the James Madison College Library, South Case Hall. Stay up to date with upcoming events by following bulamsu on Instagram, and visiting their website.  

National Association of Black Accountants at MSU 

The National Association of Black Accountants at MSU, or NABA, is an undergraduate professional student ran organization representing a diverse group of students in the Eli Broad College of Business and related majors. NABA exposes students to a variety tof Fortune 500 companies and site visits, and teaches students valuable business techniques to use in and out of the classroom. NABA members also have access to tutoring in ACC 201, 202, ECON 201 & 202, MTH 103, STT 200, and CSE 102 provided by the Multicultural Business Programs.

Black Graduate Student Association 

Michigan State University’s Black Graduate Student Association serves as a community of support, fellowship , and scholarship to the 575 Black graduate and Professional students and over 300 Black faculty and academic staff members on campus.

African Student Union  

MSU’s African Student Union is an innovative student organization that helps prepare future leaders of society that will serve the African continent and help relieve it from the socio-political and economic crises that ravaged its member states for a period of more than 300 years.
