The Coalition of Racial and Ethnic Minorities, or CoREM, comprises various staff, faculty and administrative organizations at MSU, all dedicated to advancing inclusion on campus. These groups are instrumental in fostering a welcoming environment that supports the recruitment, retention and success of Spartans.
On Sept. 29, CoREM held its annual welcome reception at Cowles House, celebrating the arrival of new staff, administrators and faculty to Michigan State University. There were 160 registrants for this event, including both new and returning employees.
The theme for the 2025 event was “Gidinawendimin: We Are All Related." The event was hosted by Educating, Anishinaabe: Giving, Learning and Empowering, or EAGLE, one of CoREM’s five member organizations.
The reception featured remarks from Vice President and Chief Inclusion Officer Jabbar R. Bennett, Ph.D., Provost Laura Lee McIntyre, Ph.D., and President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D.
Each CoREM organization introduced itself and invited attendees to learn and further engage with the community. This year, the recently formed Middle East and North African Faculty and Staff Association, or MENA-FSA, participated in its first reception.
