University Communications and the Office for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion welcome the 2024-25 diversity, equity and inclusion communications interns. 

 

Luz Vazquez

Luz Vazquez (she/her)

Lead DEI Communications Intern

Hi! My name is Luz Vazquez, and I am a fourth-year student pursuing a degree in political science with a track in public policy and a minor in leadership of organizations. I currently serve as president of Latino Leaders in Policy, and coming from a background in farmwork, I have grown to have a passion in sharing my story and advocating for all migrant farmworkers. In my spare time, I enjoy eating out, binge-watching shows and listening to music!

 

Emilio Silerio Gonzalez

Strategic DEI Communications Intern

Hey! My name is Emilio. I am a third-year student double majoring in social relations and policy and public relations. I am passionate about helping others and sociology. In the future, I will have a position in the field of public affairs, creating positive change. I love playing and watching sports, rock climbing and being creative. I am excited for another year of growth as a lifelong student!

 

Adilene Martinez-Carmona

Adilene Martinez-Carmona (she/her)

Hi! I am Adilene Martinez-Carmona, a third-year student majoring in social relations in policy with a minor in Chicano/Latino Studies. In the future, I would like to become an immigration lawyer and help create pathways toward citizenship for undocumented immigrants. I am currently involved on campus as a resident assistant in Holden Hall and treasurer for Latino Leaders in Policy. In my free time, I enjoy reading and engaging in any event going on in the Latinx community.

 

Billy Couturier

Hi! I’m Billy, a third-year public relations major with a business minor. I aspire to work in crisis communication. Currently, I’m a resident assistant in North Wonders and an active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. You’ll often find me in the botanical garden with friends. I’m passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and look forward to incorporating these values into my role here. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, going on walks and shopping.

 

Laila Perdue

Hello! My name is Laila Perdue, I am a fourth-year student majoring in advertising creative with a minor in graphic design. In the future, I would like to pursue a career in the social media and communications field, where I can apply my creativity, strategic thinking and passion for digital engagement. In my free time, I enjoy expressing my creativity through fashion and styling, designing graphics and listening to music. I also love spending quality time with family and friends, which helps me stay balanced and inspired.
