To the MSU Campus Community:
Last fall, Michigan State University initiated a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Foundations online education program required to be completed by all students, faculty and staff.
DEI Foundations is intended to heighten awareness and take a step toward ensuring all members of our community feel welcome, respected and included, which are prerequisites to offering an environment where all can succeed. Your participation is vital to the realization of this goal, and if you have completed the program, we thank you.
If you have not completed the program, we ask that you make the commitment to expand your knowledge and understanding by doing so. Remember: Completing DEI Foundations is a university expectation for all, and students need to do so within 30 days of receiving an invitation to complete the module.
We intend this online learning program to lay a shared foundation for all Spartan students, faculty and staff members to continue building upon. Further educational opportunities are accessible through the Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives. There, you will find a robust offering of workshops, seminars and innovative programs throughout the year to support your continued growth and proficiency in DEI principles and practice.
MSU aspires to offer a transformational educational experience to every individual while expanding the boundaries of knowledge for the good of all. Each of us deserves a university environment that affirms our presence within this community of scholars, and DEI Foundations is a vital element toward that imperative.
Thank you for your Spartan engagement.
Sincerely,
Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D.
