Training and services

The Office for Inclusive Excellence and Impact offers educational and consultative services to support equitable, inclusive and compliant employment practices across the university. Through workshops, training sessions and individualized consultations, our team provides guidance on best practices in recruitment, evaluation and selection processes, as well as support in meeting institutional and equal employment opportunity, or EEO, requirements. We partner with campus units to strengthen processes, identify helpful resources and promote alignment with university policies and federal and state regulations. Units are encouraged to request education or consultation at any stage to advance inclusive excellence and operational integrity.

Offerings

Open sessions

Through campus educational offerings, consultations and strategic partnerships, the Equal Opportunity Team within the Office for Inclusive Excellence and Impact supports MSU’s fulfillment of compliance requirements and its commitment to operational excellence. Our monthly open sessions held across campus are designed to share resources, highlight best practices for ensuring EEO compliance, connect units with additional tools that strengthen institutional compliance, and promote understanding of university policies related to human resources and personnel activities. These sessions create accessible opportunities for faculty and staff to build knowledge, ask questions and engage in proactive, informed approaches to equitable and compliant practices at MSU.

Equal Employment Opportunity

This seminar is designed to engage the Spartan community in strategic efforts to ensure equal employment opportunity in the hiring process. Through discussion of institutional policy and compliance requirements, attendees will acquire research-based strategies for talent acquisition and retention. This program supplements search-specific consultations/training for those seeking a more comprehensive discussion of EEO hiring practices at MSU.

Labor market data access and insights for strategic recruitment and outreach

This interactive training introduces search committee members and HR professionals to publicly available labor market data sources to inform recruitment and outreach efforts. Participants will learn how to locate and interpret labor market availability data using sources such as the U.S. Census, IPEDS and CUPA-HR to better understand the composition of relevant labor pools and educational pipelines. During the session, participants will work through a structured Labor Market Availability Workbook and practice accessing public data sources, organizing labor market information and interpreting key insights to help guide recruitment planning and outreach strategies.
