Council of Inclusive Access Deans
Council of Inclusive Access Deans (COIAD): is a cross-campus body at Michigan State University composed of senior academic and administrative leaders with college- or unit-level responsibility for advancing access, opportunity, excellence and related institutional priorities. Membership includes assistant and associate deans, as well as other designated leaders who oversee initiatives related to access, opportunity and excellence at the highest levels within their respective units.
COIAD supports coordination and information sharing across colleges and units by providing a structured forum to examine policies, practices and initiatives that contribute to student, faculty and staff success and to a constructive academic and workplace environment. Modeled on MSU’s standing dean-level councils (e.g., those serving faculty, undergraduate and graduate leadership), COIAD facilitates the exchange of effective practices, identifies emerging issues and promotes alignment with institutional priorities and strategic goals.
The council provides collective input to senior leadership and serves as a communication conduit between colleges, units and central administration. COIAD convenes regularly to advance collaboration and shared understanding across the institution.
