CoREM welcomes new underrepresented employees

October 27, 2023 - Audrey Bentley

On Oct. 3, the Coalition of Racial and Ethnic Minorities, or CoREM, hosted its annual welcome reception event at Cowles House to welcome new faculty, administrators and staff of color to the university. The theme of the 2023 welcome reception was a family reunion and was organized by the Black Faculty, Staff and Administrators Association, one of four groups of CoREM.

CoREM comprises systemically minoritized faculty, staff and administrator organizations at MSU. These organizations uphold and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus and consist of leaders across MSU. CoREM is essential to the recruitment, retention and success of our diverse campus community.

Remarks were made by Interim President Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D., Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Thomas D. Jeitschko, Ph.D., Special Assistant to the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Terry L. Frazier, Ph.D. and additional leaders. Each CoREM group introduced themselves and made an open invitation to guests for more information and participation.
